NOT THERAPY. NOT COUNSELING.

Claridad is a relationship preparation and enrichment facilitation service. The Claridad facilitator is a certified FOCCUS facilitator and ordained wedding officiant. Claridad is not a licensed mental health practice, therapy service, counseling service, or medical service of any kind.

Under Florida Statute §491.012, the following terms are restricted to licensed professionals: "counseling," "therapy," "mental health counseling," "marriage counseling," and "family counseling." Claridad does not use these terms to describe its services. Claridad's services are premarital preparation, premarital facilitation, relationship preparation, relationship enrichment, and ceremony officiation.

WHAT CLARIDAD DOES

Claridad provides:

  • Structured, research-informed facilitation using validated relationship assessment inventories (FOCCUS and REFOCCUS)

  • Guided conversation and reflection to help couples understand each other better before or during commitment

  • A non-judgmental space for partners to explore their values, communication styles, and expectations

  • Wedding ceremony officiation for couples of all backgrounds, faiths, and relationship structures

WHAT CLARIDAD DOES NOT DO

  • Diagnose or treat any mental health condition

  • Provide clinical intervention of any kind

  • Replace individual therapy, couples therapy, or psychiatric treatment

  • Guarantee any relationship outcome

  • Determine whether a couple should or should not marry

  • Provide legal, financial, or medical advice of any kind

WHEN TO SEEK ADDITIONAL SUPPORT

Claridad cares about the wellbeing of the couples it serves. If you or your partner are experiencing any of the following, we strongly encourage you to seek support from a licensed mental health professional before or in addition to Claridad's services:

  • Active mental health symptoms including depression, anxiety, trauma responses, or substance use concerns

  • A history of domestic violence, abuse, or coercive control in your relationship or prior relationships

  • High-conflict patterns that regularly escalate to verbal, emotional, or physical harm

  • Suicidal ideation or self-harm

If a concern of this nature arises during the Claridad facilitation process, the facilitator will name it directly and provide a referral to an appropriate licensed professional. The facilitation process may be paused or concluded at the facilitator's discretion as a certified FOCCUS facilitator.

The FOCCUS Pre-Marriage Inventory and REFOCCUS Marriage Enrichment Inventory are developed and owned by FOCCUS Inc. USA. Claridad is an independent business that administers these inventories as a certified FOCCUS facilitator. Claridad is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representative of FOCCUS Inc. USA or the Catholic Archdiocese of Omaha.

The FOCCUS and REFOCCUS inventories are not diagnostic tools. They are structured conversation frameworks designed to surface areas of alignment and difference between partners. Inventory results are not a prediction of relationship success or failure.

CEREMONY OFFICIATION DISCLAIMER

Claridad's ceremony officiation services are performed in Florida by an ordained minister in good standing with American Marriage Ministries (AMM). Claridad's ordination is recognized under Florida law for the legal performance of marriage ceremonies.

Ceremony services are performed within a 10-mile radius of St. Augustine, Florida. Travel outside this radius is available on a case-by-case basis and quoted separately. Claridad's ceremony officiation services are currently available in Florida only.

NO GUARANTEE OF OUTCOMES

Relationship preparation and enrichment facilitation is grounded in research showing that structured premarital preparation is associated with improved relationship outcomes. However, Claridad makes no guarantee of any specific outcome. The quality of any couple's experience depends on their own honesty, openness, and commitment to the process.
